Dr. McLawhorn and his team provided excellent treatment for my Total Knee Procedure. The outcome is different for each individual. Their guidance and assistance through out the process was beyond my expectations. The process began with meeting with Dr. McLawhorn and his assistant, reviewing the xray and deciding when to schedule my procedure. The front desk is handled by Amanda Eventoff, who reached out to schedule the hospital visits that were required prior to procedure. The team at Stamford hospital provided a level of comfort on the pre-op visit, guiding me thru the next two weeks and prepping during the morning of the procedure where you meet the team nurse. I met with the anesthesiologist who advised on what to expect and their process for your preparation. I awoke possibly 2 1/2 hours later, taken care by the excellent nursing staff, had my post operation review with Dr McLawhorn, proceeded to have breakfast, walked the halls, climbed the stairs and off in a wheel chair to my waiting car. Post operation: Follow the Dr's instructions! Re-read them, as it is easy to miss a detail or two. I had to follow up with Amanda who was very helpful with the various form requirements from my work, insurance and FMLA with the State of CT. The nursing staff were very attentive upon placing the medication refills. The six week review was better than expected, but follow the Dr's orders and have the same results. Dr. McLawhorn and his team are an excellent choice if you need these procedures. I will be having the next knee done within a year.

Incredible care from start to finish. The level of patient education of what to expect at every step from pre-surgery physical to surgery care and immediate post-surgical follow-up through to my 6 week follow up appointment today is the gold standard. The response time to any questions in the portal is very quick - almost always within a few hours is very comforting. Dr. McLawhorn is impeccable in every step of his process and that focus follows through his whole team. He is extremely caring. I can’t imagine having my hip replacement surgery being done by anyone else.

I had a consultation with Dr. McLawhorn on Monday-7/27/26. He had done a hip replacement for me back in July of 2018 and I was now seeing him for a knee arthritis issue. I had worked with a Dr. Sama at HSS Florida and he felt the solution to my issue was possibly a full knee replacement. Dr McLawhorn reviewed the films with me, explained what he saw and answered all my questions. It was a very thorough consultation. Dr. McLawhorn recommended a partial knee replacement. I had total hip replacement surgery on June 5th 2026, the procedure was done by Dr McLawhorn. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 been poor and 10 being excellent the success of my surgery and recovery milestones is a 10. I am feeling 100% better and I am no longer walking with a cane. The most impressive parts of my surgery outcomes are: my ability to walk with no assistance by week 4, discontinued use of pain medication by day 6 of surgery and a very small scar for this type of procedure. Thank you Dr McLawhorn for doing such a fine job. A great big thank you to Dr McLawhorn’s staff for responding so promptly to all my queries and to the HSS nurses, doctors and support staff I thank you. Every one of you made this journey so much easier.

Dr McLawhorn was very clear and explained everything about the surgery and what to expect.The experience what better than expected. The pain was well managed and for the most part had minimal discomfort after the first few days after surgery. My post surgery instructions were very clear regarding how active I should be and the recovery process was very smooth.

Dr. McLawhorn is an excellent doctor. I have never had major surgery like a total hip replacement. I was so very, very scared. His whole staff was so very patient with me and I initially was going to go to Bone and Joint Institute in Hartford, CT because I live so very close to Hartford. After doing weeks of research with the doctors there, the hospital, the staff, I decided I did not want to get my surgery there. Dr. McLawhorn was recommended to me from another physician and the hospital too (HSS). My surgery went so well, and I just had my one year check-up. Anytime I needed to call for physical therapy or just a concern I was always called back immediately. Dr. McLawhorn is so smart and knows all the newest, up-to date technologies with the surgeries he performs. He gets five stars from me and I hardly ever write reviews but previous to my surgery, I could not walk and in one year after his excellent surgery, I am walking, grocery shopping and he has given me back my life. The dr was perfect. We communicated right away and after a brief exam and review of the films, the verdict was no surgery recommended. Great news. The overall experience at the hospital was less great. I followed gps and came in by Chelsea piers and could not find the right place. Signage sucked. Also the process for seeing patients in Xray was chaotic. My first name was called out with a bunch of others but no verification if the right robert. No dob like other medical offices. It seemed fast and loose.

I saw Dr McLawhorn for knee pain that is getting progressively worse and was really uncertain about what to do about it. He thoroughly explained to me the test results and my options for treatment. He answered all my questions and I came out of the appointment much more comfortable about the next steps. I highly recommend Dr McLawhorn and am confident in moving forward under his care.

All aspects of the surgical procedure went smoothly. Dr McLawhorn explained the options clearly and concisely. The scheduling for all parts of the sequence( preop, surgery,postop) were easy and convenient. HSS at Stamford Hospital is very impressive and I have already had two surgeries at HSS in Manhattan. Dr McLawhorns rehab regime has been effective and precise. You only get one chance to rehab correctly. .
